To make sure that responsible travel does not become an empty word, we work together with the Czech Union for Nature Conservation, this allows us to look at nature from a perspective that is new for us.

Choose means of transport to minimise carbon dioxide emissinons, prefer train and public transporation. fly only when you have no other option. Look for accommodation in smaller hotels and BBs using local resources, the operation of which is friendly to the environment. Prefer restaurants that use local agricultural products. Dispose your waste responsibly, do not leave your mess in the countryside, sort waste and minimize the use of packaging. Buy local products, use locally provided services. Hire a local guide and learn more about the local culture, customs and life. Do not take trophies - do not dig out plants, etc. Inform your travel agent or hotel about your coments and ideas, share your feedback to support further development.

Form of business

According to the Czech low, I am a small trader-natural person (self employed). I am the owner, and at the same time the only employee of the agency.

Motivation

I decided for this career after my maternal leave building on my experience as a tourist guide. It is me who builds the travel agency, though a have a few friends who giv meadvice and provide assistance for free. I decided to focus on responsible trevel in the region where I live as I belive the arguments in favour of responsibletravel, even though I have to face some "start-up" issues, I am determined to hold on to this idea as I belive this will also motivate local people to treat their environment better. This is basically it, I am building the business from scratch (the concept being rather new in the Czech Republic), my office is my kitchen, laptop and hours of strenuous work(I hope to have a small separate home office one day).

People

My colleaguesare local people-students (who may work as guides occasionally). And local is the staff of the accommodation providers and other suppliers-small local production shops, producers of traditional goods like wooden things, honey, fruit and fruit juices, locally produced liquors, sheltered workshops-pottery, baskket making local farmers. All these people are the suppliers who participate in the programmes of my agency.

Volunteers

I can agree on volunteering programmes with the Czech Association for Nature Conservation. The volunteers can provide their assistance in a rescue facility for wildlife and take part in activities throughout the year.

local products

I offer local products in my on-line shop, the list of products is slowly growing. Furthermore, my clients can visit the producers and buy products from them directly.

Transportation

I support and motivate my clients to use the means of publick transport - especially trains (on a very good level in the Czech Republic). Clients arrive by train and I take care of their transport (up to eight people in my car). Once the travel agency stars to prosper, and the cars are available, I would like to buy an electro mobile.

Energy costs

I do not have a separate office in a different place, therefore, all the power costs are covered together with the costs for our house - we use power saving electrical appliances.
